Kudos for using a 301 redirect to preserve search rankings. More on what this means and how you can tell its SEO friendly here:

Cool stuff. Looks like you're busy adding new features - keep up the good job :)
Tumblr has always been very search-engine friendly, and we're always thrilled to do more.
It would have been really great to have known about this in advance, or been able to opt out. It's creating all sorts of problems, in addition to the Disqus hang ups. Obviously it's a great idea but not without consequences to the people that depend on Tumblr.
For example:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/faildogs.com/pos...
http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/faildogs.com/pos...
This might seem like nothing, but it is a big deal and it is really frustrating to see from a service I have been totally impressed with until now.
How could you make such a major change with no announcement whatsoever or even considering something as fundamental as the major sources of traffic (digg, stumbleupon, etc)?
It's disappointing.
User FAIL.
The folks at Disqus are currently porting comments to the new URL scheme. Sorry for the interruption. This was entirely our oversight. It should be wrapped up tonight.
As for the bookmarking services, they'll scan our permanent redirect headers when they sweep for dead links. If it's important to maintain legacy permalinks for a particular widget (like Digg), you can explicitly use the old URL structure in your theme like:
<script type="text/javascript">
digg_url = 'http://www.davidslog.com/post/{PostID}';
</script>
<script src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Very sorry again for the confusion.
it would also be nice if the page numbers would always refer to the same posts if that was possible.
http://www.davidslog.com/dont-laugh-at-us
and if another post is made on the same url with the same title (permalink), it should be:
http://www.davidslog.com/dont-laugh-at-us-1
Why all the extras?
You should enable commenting, i dont want to use this disqus thing. People should be able to comment on other peoples tumblrs using their own tumblr accounts
Lets not make Tumblr a Blogger with less features.
Blogs are blogs, tumblelogs are tumblelogs.
